Overview

EVA01 provides the following on-board peripherals:

  • two USB 2.0 ports
  • one USB mini-A port
  • micro-SD card slot
  • Ethernet interface
  • WLAN 2.4GHz
  • up to 152 GPIO pins, shared with other peripherals

USB

DevelBoard has 2 high-speed USB host ports and 1 high-speed USB OTG port.

Both the USB host ports are connected to USB A-type ports in EVA01, available for general use.

The USB mini-A port is connected to DevelBoard via an FTDI USB-to-serial chip. This allows a host PC to communicate with DevelBoard using its serial interface. This is especially useful to perform console access to the board during its boot sequence.

Micro-SD

DevelBoard also exposes two SDIO interfaces, which can be connected to SD card slots to allow input/output to SD cards.

EVA01 provides an on-board micro-SD slot connected to DevelBoard in such a way to allow booting the system from the SD card.

To easily partition the SD card to allow booting from it, the dboard tool can be used, as described here.

Ethernet

DevelBoard has an on-board Ethernet 10/100 MAC port, available through the RJ45 MagJack connector on EVA01.

The Ethernet port can be used to connect to the network even during the boot phase of the device, allowing to use the TFTP protocol during boot to retrieve the firmware from a remote location.

Wifi

Aside from Ethernet, EVA01 also provides wireless capabilities to access the network, using a WLAN 2.4GHz WiFi module with an external antenna to boost its signal.

GPIO

DevelBoard provides up to 152 digital I/O pins, shared with other peripherals.

These pins are available in EVA01 using three 2X26 2.0mm 52-pin headers.
